Executive Leadership
At RUSH Volleyball Club, leadership is more than titles — it’s a responsibility to set the tone for our athletes, families, and coaches every day.
We believe that true leadership means modeling excellence, consistency, integrity, and humility. It’s about guiding athletes to grow not just as players, but as people. Our leaders understand that every decision made — from coaching strategies to club policies — must reflect our mission to foster development, discipline, teamwork, and joy in the game of volleyball.
Leadership at RUSH isn’t just about winning; it’s about creating an environment where athletes can be challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential both on and off the court. It’s about showing respect for the process, embracing lifelong learning, and holding ourselves and others to high standards of conduct and care.
Meet our Leaders
Our leadership team brings decades of experience, passion, and dedication to building RUSH Volleyball Club into what it is today. Each member is committed to cultivating a positive club culture and helping athletes succeed at every level.
Tim Zemp began coaching at 18, returning to his former high school as JV Boys Coach. Since then, he’s amassed nearly two decades of experience at every level, including collegiate coaching at Benedictine University Mesa (NAIA) and BYU–Hawaii (NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball).
At the high school level, Tim built the ALA–Queen Creek HS Boys and Girls Volleyball program, leading the boys to six straight seasons finishing as State Champions or Semi-Finalists. He also spent two summers coaching with Arizona High Performance, working with elite youth athletes competing nationally and internationally.
In 2018, Tim was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a 30 Under 30 Award winner, highlighting his impact as one of the nation’s top young coaches.
As Executive Director of RUSH Volleyball Club, Tim is committed to excellence in coaching, athlete development, and creating a positive, high-standard club culture where players can thrive.
Ryan Hertlein brings over 20 years of coaching and leadership experience to RUSH Volleyball Club. She began coaching at 15 with Sierra Nevada Volleyball Club while excelling as a player herself, earning All-Region honors at Laramie County CC and helping Johnson County CC to a national runner-up finish at the NJCAA National Championships.
After college, Ryan dedicated her career to education and athletics, serving as a teacher, coach, and athletic director in Colorado while coaching boys and girls teams for Team Colorado Volleyball Club and 303 Volleyball Academy.
Since relocating to Arizona, Ryan has been an integral part of RUSH, known for her passion in developing athletes both on and off the court — building not just volleyball skills, but character, confidence, and life readiness.
